REMINDER: New hours, policies at Hurley Transfer Station for 2023

Site open Tuesday through Saturday; cashless policy takes effect
REMINDER: New hours, policies at Hurley Transfer Station for 2023

Important information for Town of Hurley Transfer Station users, effective Jan. 1, 2023 (with a one-month transition period):

Hours

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday (but closed on Tuesdays during a week when a holiday falls on Monday)

Annual permit cost

$20 for town residents, $60 for non-residents. Permits can be purchased in the Town Clerk’s Office at the Town Hall, 10 Wamsley Place, with a check or money order. Proof of address is required, and people seeking permits should bring the vehicle they plan to use for trash disposal so a sticker can be affixed to the windshield.

Solid waste (trash) disposal cost

20 cents per pound

New cashless policy

No cash will be accepted for the purchase of annual permits or for on-site trash disposal. Transfer Station permits must be purchased with check or money order (see above). Permit holders then will purchase $20 or $100 punch cards ahead of time (though less-expensive ones will be available on request) and have the appropriate amount deducted from the card during each visit to the site.

The punch cards, like the permits, are available at the Town Hall. The cards will have multiple holes worth 40 cents each. This means that if a Transfer Station user brings 20 pounds of trash, for which disposal will cost $4, the user's card will have 10 holes punched out. When a card is used up, a new one will be needed.
