Tax Collector

clerk@townofhurley.org

The Tax Collector is responsible for the complete and timely collection and processing of the general land taxes within the Town of Hurley. This is handled by the Town Clerk, Tracy Kellogg. The Tax Collector is not responsible for school taxes. If you have any questions regarding your tax bill, please feel free to call the office or send an email to the email address above.

General Taxes:

General tax bills are mailed the first week of January. If you have a mortgage escrow account and do not receive a tax bill, you are encouraged to call our office to confirm that your bill was sent to your bank. On occasion, a bank fails to identify a parcel correctly which makes it impossible for a requested bill to be forwarded to them. In such cases, we can provide a bill to the homeowner to be presented to the bank.

If you receive a bill for property you have sold, please forward the notice to the new owner or return it to the Tax Collector's office immediately.

Interest Fees:

Payment of taxes is due in full by Jan. 31. Any bill, or portion thereof, that is unpaid will incur interest charges as follows:

  • Feb. 1 to Feb. 28/29: 1%
  • March 1-31: 2%
  • April 1-30: 3%
  • May 1-31: 4%

In addition, a $2 fee will be charged for each notice of unpaid taxes. After June 1, the tax roll for the Town of Hurley will be returned to the Ulster County Treasurer for collection and processing.
