New Supervisor, other Hurley officials sworn in at Town Hall ceremony

The Town of Hurley’s new Supervisor, Mike Boms, was sworn in at noon Monday, Jan. 1, in the Town Hall. Also sworn in, having won their elections in November, were new Town Board member Diana Cline, returning Town Board member Gregory Simpson and returning Town Justice Roy Hochberg. Returning Town Justice John Parker, who presided over Monday’s ceremony, was sworn in for his own new term just before the start of the new year, as was new Town Board member Debra Dougherty, appointed on Dec. 27 to succeed Jana Martin, who stepped down about a month ago.

The Town Board will hold its first meeting of 2024 at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, in the Town Hall, 10 Wamsley Place. Among its priorities at that session will be appointing someone to fill the Town Board seat that Boms vacated to become supervisor, and appointing a new Town Clerk to succeed Annie Reed, who submitted her resignation Dec. 27.

The meeting is open to the public.
