Ulster County agency offers for fish for pond-stocking

The Ulster County Soil and Water Conservation District is holding its annual Pond Stocking Program this fall, giving local pond owners a convenient way to buy healthy and affordable fish.

Largemouth bass, catfish, rainbow trout and fathead minnows are being offered this year. A permit from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is required to stock these fish. The permit is free, and the application and submission instructions can be found online at tinyurl.com/59e8jhps.

The 2023 Fish Order Form, which includes instructions for payment and submission, can be accessed by clicking the PDF link below.

The deadline for ordering any of the fish species cited above is Friday, Oct. 13, 2023. Orders will be distributed from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, in the parking lot of the Soil and Water Conservation office at 5 Park Lane in Highland (CLICK HERE for map). A fish-stocking permit must be presented at the time of pick-up.

The Ulster County Soil and Water Conservation District can be reached by phone at (845) 883-7162, ext. 3.
