Retiring Town of Ulster Supervisor James Quigley joining Hurley as temporary Municipal Bookkeeper

James Quigley, who is retiring as Town of Ulster Supervisor in August after more than 14 years on the job, has been appointed to the temporary position of part-time Municipal Bookkeeper for the Town of Hurley.

Quigley’s appointment was approved by the Hurley Town Board in a 5-0 vote during the board’s meeting on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the West Hurley Firehouse.

Quigley will work up to 20 hours per week for Hurley at a pay rate of $35 per hour. He will assist the Town Supervisor, Budget Officer and Senior Account Clerk in updating Hurley’s financial records. There is no set end date for Quigley’s employment with the Town.

Quigley, a 1974 graduate of John A. Coleman Catholic High School, is a Certified Public Accountant and was a partner with New York City-based Rothschild Realty Management LLC.

He was elected to two-year terms as Town of Ulster Supervisor in 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015, and four-year terms in 2017 and 2021. His last day as Supervisor will be Aug. 31.
