Members sought for Town's new Safety Committee

Members sought for Town's new Safety Committee

Hurley is seeking volunteers to serve on the Town’s new Safety Committee.

This committee will be responsible for addressing various safety-related issues, with an initial focus on Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Town road safety, and updating the Hurley Emergency Management Plan. Beyond that, the committee will address other issues as they are identified and arise. The committee will be responsible for bringing information and recommendations to the Town Board for adoption.

We are seeking 5 members and 2 alternate members who have relevant background and experience in the committee objectives. Committee members will work with multiple government agencies, as well as Town departments and other community members, and will directly influence and contribute to the quality of life in Hurley. Serving on this committee will be a commitment, though we believe the time and effort that members devote should more than be offset by the knowledge that they are providing a critical service to the community. Committee member term-ending dates will rotate yearly to preserve knowledge and allow for transitions as needed.

A meeting schedule and location will be determined the new committee. The committee also will have the option to select a chairperson, vice chairperson and secretary.

Committee members will be appointed by the Town Board based on multiple factors, including experience and background that aligns with the committee’s mission and objectives, date of submission, and/or informal interviews.

If you would like to be considered, please send an email to informationofficer@townofhurley.org with your full name, address (proof of residence in Hurley is required), and a brief write-up that best emphasizes your interest and qualifications.

The deadline to apply is March 31, 2024.
