Hurley Republicans nominate candidates for town’s November election

Town of Hurley Republicans held a caucus on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, to nominate candidates for the Nov. 7 election.

The GOP nominees are as follows.

  • Town Supervisor: Michael Boms
  • Town Clerk: Tracy Kellogg
  • Town Highway Superintendent: Michael Shultis (incumbent)
  • Town Board: Diana Cline and William Mayhon
  • Town Justice: John Parker (incumbent)

Boms, a member of the Town Board whose term is not up this year, will run against incumbent Supervisor Melinda McKnight, the Democratic nominee. McKnight defeated Boms in a Democratic primary on June 27.

Kellogg will face off against incumbent Town Clerk Annie Reed, the Democratic nominee. Reed defeated Kellogg in the Democratic primary last month.

Cline and Mayhon are in the race for two Town Board seats with Democratic incumbents Peter Humphries and Gregory Simpson. The top two vote-getters will be elected to four-year terms. Cline finished third and out of the running in June’s three-way Democratic primary with Simpson and Humphries.

Shultis and Parker have no nominated opponents.
