Hurley not facing fiscal stress, according to New York State report

The state’s latest Fiscal Stress report for municipalities in New York finds Hurley to be on sound financial footing.

The report (CLICK HERE) – released on Tuesday, Sept. 26, by New York Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli – shows Hurley with a Fiscal Score of 3.3. Scores are on a scale of zero to 100; the lower the score, the less fiscal stress a municipality is experiencing.

A score of 45 to 54.9 indicates a municipal government is "susceptible to fiscal stress"; 55 to 64.9 indicates "moderate fiscal stress"; and 65 and up means a municipality is under "significant fiscal stress." (The chart shown here lists the only municipalities in New York State that were deemed at risk of or under fiscal stress.)

Among communities near Hurley, Woodstock’s score was 3.3, Marbletown’s was zero, and the City of Kingston’s was 1.7.
