Climate Smart Task Force

About the Hurley Climate Smart Task Force

As concerns about climate change grow, New York State, Ulster County and the Town of Hurley have initiated programs to mitigate and adapt to this challenge. At the town level this Task Force was formed to advise the Town, create plans, articulate specific goals and complete projects to prepare for the changes ahead.

The Task Force completed Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventories, and continues to work on climate action plans, vulnerability assessments, and planning other actions to reduce the Town's carbon footprint and prepare for climate change. Through these efforts Hurley was awarded Bronze Level Certification in April 2023 from the New York State Climate Smart Communities program. Town residents can follow the Town's progress and plans toward achieving GHG targets and other goals at the Hurley Climate Smart Task Force website at climatesmarthurley.org. There you can subscribe to get task force updates. If you are interested in helping out with this important work, contact the Climate Smart Task Force Coordinator at climatesmart@townofhurley.org

The Hurley Climate Smart Task Force meets virtually on the first Tuesday of the month, starting at 7 p.m. To join a meeting online, go to meet.google.com/eee-uuvh-ehy. To join by phone, call (912) 712-4401 and enter PIN ‪283 106 119‬#
